Dreaded Words: "Lunch Provided"

My training class lunches thus far:

Monday: Green salad, rice pilaf, steamed vegetables, (and roasted chicken which I didn't eat).
Tuesday: Potato salad, green salad, half a veggie sandwich (I was late and the carnivores had already eaten the rest of the veggie sandwiches), and half a chicken salad sandwich which I thought was tuna salad.
Wednesday: Green salad, mexican rice, (and chicken enchiladas which I didn't eat).
[UPDATE:]
Thursday: Green salad, dinner rolls, (and beef lasagna which I didn't eat).
Friday: Green salad, white rice, dinner rolls, (and baked chicken which I didn't eat).

This is totally par for the course for catered lunches, in my experience.  I can hardly wait to see what's in store for the rest of the week.

We are on our own for dinners but we have only an hour to find a place, eat, pay, and return.  Monday was at Johnny Rocket's.  Last night the class elected to push thru and leave an hour early instead, so I went to downtown Redwood City and visited "Angelica's Bistro."  Fantastic microbrew menu!  A shame I could only have one (since I needed to a. drive home and b. study).  Decent panini. Open mic acoustic country music.

Being "out of town" for training, even though I am only a 30-minute drive from home, is disorienting.  The nice thing is it's easy to focus on my studying.  Aside from the food, the not-so-nice thing is missing the E-i-C and the Spawn.  The old saw "absence makes the heart grow fonder" has some validity, but I think it's more like, absence makes one appreciate what one normally takes for granted.
